Samen online tv-kijken kan nu op een unieke manier: met NPO Samen. De nieuwste innovatieve functionaliteit van de Nederlandse Publieke Omroep maakt het voor iedereen mogelijk om via NPO Start met meerdere mensen tegelijk een NPO-programma te kijken, én er via de webcam samen direct over te chatten. Daarmee brengen we Nederland nog meer in verbinding, juist nu contact met elkaar zo belangrijk is.
Hoewel de coronamaatregelen langzaam wat soepeler worden, verblijven de meeste Nederlanders noodgedwongen vaker thuis. Alleen, met vrienden, huisgenoten, klasgenootjes of familieleden. Gelukkig blijven we ondanks de beperkingen op vele manieren verbonden met elkaar, veelal dankzij allerlei online toepassingen. NPO.nl/Samen is zo’n nieuwe toepassing. Het is de nieuwste manier van samen tv beleven, die in ieder geval de komende drie maanden via de computer en de laptop is te gebruiken.
Hoe werkt het?
Ga op NPO.nl op zoek naar het programma dat je samen met anderen wil gaan kijken, zet je webcam aan en klik op het ‘Kijk samen’-icoon (zie afbeelding).
- Er verschijnt een scherm waar je je naam kunt invullen.
- Daarna treed je de NPO Samen-omgeving binnen
- Zet het geluid van je webcam aan en nodig vrienden of familieleden uit
- De link kun je direct delen per whatsapp, mail of andere sociale media
Via de link treden jullie allemaal toe tot jullie eigen gezellige online tv-kamer. Je kunt maximaal met vier camera’s in één virtuele huiskamer. Start de show en genieten maar.
Innovaties bij NPO
Martijn van Dam, binnen de raad van bestuur van de NPO verantwoordelijk voor technologie en innovatie, is enthousiast over deze nieuwe manier van samen tv-kijken: “Als NPO laten we Nederlanders graag dingen samen beleven. Dat zorgt voor meer onderlinge verbondenheid. Ook in ons innovatiebeleid zetten we daar natuurlijk op in.” Volgens Van Dam is NPO Samen bij uitstek geschikt om onze individuele kijkervaringen met elkaar te kunnen delen. “Dit heeft natuurlijk de afgelopen maanden een nóg grotere betekenis gekregen. Samen televisie kijken met je oudere vader of moeder was heel gewoon, maar nu voor veel mensen niet meer vanzelfsprekend. Of met goede vrienden een avond bingewatchen. We hopen met NPO Samen dat soort dingen weer makkelijker te maken, ook als je noodgedwongen afstand van elkaar moet houden.”
Eurovisie Songfestival
Bij NPO Samen wordt samengewerkt met het technologiebedrijf Sceenic, dat vorig najaar als één van de drie winnaars uit de bus kwam bij de Innovatie Challenge rond het Eurovisie Songfestival, een wedstrijd waarbij werd gezocht naar vernieuwende interactieve toepassingen. Hoewel het Songfestival zelf is uitgesteld, heeft de NPO de toepassing samen met Sceenic verder uitgewerkt, met NPO.nl/Samen als resultaat. De toepassing is de komende maanden als experiment beschikbaar voor vele programma’s van de Publieke Omroep die via NPO.nl beschikbaar zijn.

Watching TV together online is now possible in a unique way: with NPO Samen. The latest innovative functionality of the Dutch Public Broadcasting makes it possible for everyone to watch an NPO program with several people at the same time via NPO Start, and to chat about it directly via webcam together. - You can share the link directly via WhatsApp, mail or other social media
Via the link you all join your own cozy online TV room. You can use a maximum of four cameras in one virtual living room. Start the show and enjoy.
Innovations at NPO
Martijn van Dam, within the NPO board of directors responsible for technology and innovation, is enthusiastic about this new way of watching TV together: “As an NPO, we like to let the Dutch people experience things together. This creates more interconnectedness. We are of course also focusing on this in our innovation policy. ” According to Van Dam, NPO Samen is ideally suited to be able to share our individual viewing experiences with each other. “This has of course taken on even greater significance in recent months. Watching television together with your older father or mother was common, but is no longer self-evident for many people. Or binge watch an evening with good friends. We hope with NPO Samen to make things like that easier again, even if you are forced to keep a distance from each other. ”
Eurovision songfestival
At NPO Samen is collaborating with the technology company Sceenic, which was one of the three winners last fall in the Innovation Challenge around the Eurovision Song Contest, a competition in which innovative interactive applications were sought. Although the Song Festival itself has been postponed, the NPO has further developed the application together with Sceenic, with NPO.nl/Samen as a result. The application is the next few months as an experiment available for many of the public broadcasting programs via NPO.nl available.
